2nd Alarm Fire Displaces Village Family

Tuesday, May 20, 2014 1157 The Cornwall-on-Hudson Fire Department was summoned to a report of "flames coming out of the back of the house" at 13 Boulevard. Upon arrival of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Officers, they confirmed a working fire with flames through the roof. As the daytime pool of available volunteer firefighters is very scarce, a 2nd Alarm was requested. Cornwall Fire Department Truck 402 was on automatic aid to cover the out of service Tower 413, Cornwall also sent an Engine, City of Newburgh Fire Department sent an Engine and Truck, Washingtonville Fire Department provided the FAST and New Windsor Fire Department sent an Engine to the scene. The community was covered by West Point with a Tower Ladder and Salisbury Mills with an Engine. Cornwall EMS provided rehab and transported one Firefighter who was injured during the blaze but has been released and is doing well. No one was home at the time of the Fire. Fire Displaces 2 Family Home in Village

Thursday, January 23, 2014 0611 An early morning fire displaced a two family residence at 288 Hudson Street on Thursday morning. Car 2 arrived on scene and requested a 2nd alarm for fire showing from the second floor with exposures. The fire was under control by 7am. Cornwall-on-Hudson was assisted by Cornwall with 1-Engine, 1-Truck, Vails Gate FAST, New Windsor 1-Engine, City of Newburgh 1-Truck, Cornwall EMS, Cornwall-on-Hudson PD, Cornwall PD, and the Orange County Fire Investigators. The fire is still under investigation at this time.

If you are a male or female age 16 and up, we need you to help our friends and neighbors in the community by becoming a Volunteer Firefighter!

We offer free training including New York State courses in Firefighting, Emergency Medical Technician and Hazardous Materials to name a few.
